Brittany Davis Album Release ~ "Black Thunder" presented by Loosegroove Records

Brittany Davis Album Release ~ "Black Thunder" presented by Loosegroove Records

Loosegroove Records presents Brittany Davis Album Release “ Black Thunder” featuring Brittany Davis, Evan Flory Barnes & D’Vonne Lewis at The Rabbit Box on June 17th

Doors 5pm / Artists Reception 6pm / Music begins at 7:30pm

$18 adv. / $20 door: https://tickets.venuepilot.com/e/brittany-davis-album-release-black-thunder-2025-06-17-the-rabbit-box-theatre-seattle-1b43cb

Black Thunder is the new studio album by acclaimed Seattle-based artist Brittany Davis. Arriving June 13 on Loosegroove Records, a label founded by Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard, the profound, fully improvised, fully realized collection, recalls artists like Nina Simone, Roberta Flack and Rahsaan Roland Kirk in its immersive, incantatory spirit. Produced by Josh Evans, it features Davis on keys and vocals, Evan Flory-Barnes on bass, and D’Vonne Lewis on drums.

The trio — who barely knew each other prior to recording together — improvised Black Thunder in a surge of interactive creativity across two days in the studio. The short window in which to work did away with overthinking and brought each musician’s A-game. Steeped in Black and Afrocentric cultural influences, this is Davis’s most poignant and cathartic work to date.

“Brittany, Evan, and D’Vonne have, in some way, been preparing for this recording all their lives. Honing their instrumental craft and ability, of course — but more importantly, preparing their ears, emotions, and egos to be fully present and create absolutely in the moment,” Evans says. “To listen deeply and respond empathetically. To speak with uncomfortable honesty. To listen, and be vulnerable.”

Davis — who has been blind since birth — arrives at Black Thunder via considerable headwinds. In 2023, she released her debut album, Image Issues, also via Loosegroove Records. It was met by critical hosannas. As NPRs All Songs Considered put it, "Brittany's music is a potent expression of hope...giving the listener courage to face the challenges the world throws at them." And American Songwriter hailed her “voice that would fill the deepest cavern. The blind singer/songwriter is a marvel and not for any reason other than she is dripping with talent and presence.” Davis was featured on ABC’s Good Morning America, which noted, “She uses her music to connect with people and fight for a more inclusive world.”

Black Thunder marks a shift away from Image Issues’ contemporary soul-funk sound built upon drum machines and programmed keys; instead opting for a fully live, organic performance, one that showcases her stylistic maturation, pure expression and the breadth of her versatility.

Summer Solstice Show featuring Brenna Bruce + Bad Posture Club + Sophia Corinne + Wiseacre (duo)

The Rabbit Box presents Summer Solstice Show featuring Brenna Bruce + Bad Posture Club + Sophia Corinne + Wiseacre (duo) on June 20th.

Doors 7pm / Music 8pm

$15 adv. / $18 door : https://tickets.venuepilot.com/e/summer-solstice-show-featuring-brenna-bruce-bad-posture-club-sophia-corinne-wiseacre-duo-2025-06-20-t-53433c

Brenna Bruce is a singer-songwriter based in Seattle. Following a path of curiosity and introspection, her music moves with a quiet power, balancing sharpness and tenderness with an understood patience. Bruce pulls from the tradition of vulnerable folk through delicate and crystalline vocal prowess akin to Courtney Marie Andrews and Emmylou Harris, with the simplicity and focus of Gillian Welch’s storytelling. On her forthcoming debut EP Honest Bloom, Bruce weaves ambling stories of the heart with peripheral landscapes passing through the deserts, rivers, and mountains of her past in the southwest, and present in the Pacific Northwest. Honest Bloom inhabits spaces of liminality and cyclical growth, spinning themes of connection, belonging, and becoming, with lilting pedal steel and string arrangements, tethered by pulsing percussion and the intentional delivery of Brenna’s vocal harmonies carrying each sentiment to fruition. Honest Bloom is a capsule of time, reckoning with the ever-unfolding path of being and learning life’s lessons, and Brenna Bruce is an artist burgeoning with timeless truths. https://www.brennabrucemusic.com/

Bad Posture Club is a queer folk duo made up of Maren Day and Morgan Kavanagh, collaborators for over 10 years. Together they craft intricate and experimental harmonies with their two voices, banjo, guitar, and a 100-year-old pump organ. https://badpostureclub.net/

Sophia Corinne harvests poetry for the lines of each song from her life, one lived paying attention. Her songs offer the companionship of something beautiful for us to hold close in any season. Since 2021 she has been tending a garden of folk songs and diy shows, releasing multiple EPs and touring extensively across North America. She is currently based in Asheville NC, where she lives in a tiny home. https://sophiacorinne.com/

Wiseacre, the folk-rock outfit, hails from Seattle, WA. As a natural storyteller, Kaje Wise, Wiseacre’s songwriter & leader, aims to bring the audience into their intimate and sometimes visionary world. The band reaches new heights, getting heavier and heavier as time passes, while still holding the delicate nature of Wise’s songwriting. https://wiseacrerockz.bandcamp.com/

Grace Pettis & Zach Willdee

The Rabbit Box welcomes to Seattle, Grace Pettis & Zach Willdee ~ West Coast Tour 2025, gracing our stage on June 26th!

Doors 7pm / Music begins at 8pm

$20 adv. / $25 dos : https://tickets.venuepilot.com/e/grace-pettis-zach-willdee-2025-06-26-the-rabbit-box-theatre-seattle-1bb916

“Grace has a melodic way of writing that not only stays in your head but reads what’s sitting in your soul. She writes what I’ve always wanted to say.”— Ruthie Foster (Grammy®-nominated blues artist) Grace Pettis’ much-anticipated sophomore MPress Records release, Down To The Letter, captures the Nashville-based (formerly Austin-based) singer-songwriter at the peak of her songwriting powers. Chronicling the end of a marriage and the reclamation of self after betrayal, codependency, and loss with heartbreaking detail, the lyrics deftly toe the line between personal pain and universal catharsis.

Outlaw Country singer Zach Willdee combines energetic performances with his raw talent to bear a voice bigger than his body and stories older than his boots. Growing up in Massachusetts, writing beneath the shade of the New England pines, Zach Willdee began his musical career busking on the street corners of Provincetown, Massachusetts at 14 years old. By age 16, he earned the name “The Barefoot Brother.” Lifeguarding on the Atlantic coast during the day and street performing at night he reflects, “They called me that because I didn’t wear any shoes when I performed on the tarmac. They thought it was the funniest thing that this barefoot lifeguard was playing music.” It wasn’t long before Willdee moved from playing on the tarmac to playing local bars, with lines of people wrapping around the block, waiting to get in.

Willdee says, “I write and perform my music to help myself mentally––as a form of therapy, you could say––and hope that I can help someone relate and know there’s someone else out there sharing their experience.”

It’s not uncommon to see members of the audience singing along to Willdee’s songs at his shows––and they haven’t even been released yet! The slow rollin’ rambler has been captivating audiences for over a decade and shows no signs of putting the breaks on now. Finally laying his fans’ favorites down, Willdee will release his debut singles, “Take the Sign'' (June 9), “Lately” (July 7), and “Shadow Riders” Fall of 2021, with his first album dropping later this fall. Listeners can look forward to tracks layered with the talents of musicians like Adam Duran of Kelsey Waldon’s band (electric and acoustic guitar), American Aquarium’s Neil Jones (pedal steel), Nashville local legend and country singer Tim Bolo (bass), Lucy Cochran (fiddle, backup vocals,) and Chris Weisbecker (drums, producer, and engineer) as well as his own. The multi-talented musician plays guitar, mandolin, bass, and harmonica as well. When he’s not playing the iconic American Legion Post 82 or Dee’s Country Lounge, you’ll find Willdee cooking, gardening, or exploring the great outdoors of Tennessee.

Sam Lewis, Claire Conway & Brenna Bruce

The Rabbit Box presents Sam Lewis, Claire Conway & Brenna Bruce on July 30th

Doors 7pm / Music begins at 8pm

Sam Lewis has collaborated with everyone from Leon Russell to The Wood Brothers. Chris Stapleton dubbed him “a modern Townes Van Zandt”.  He’s often labeled with some form of the word ‘soulful’ (some have even compared his voice to molasses), Lewis’ style meets at a juncture of many different genres however he’s discovered what most musicians spend lifetimes working for; the place where feel-good music meets vital social commentary.

After spending a nomadic youth throughout the Southeast (USA), he began calling Nashville home in 2009. Since then he’s been joined on his journey by some of music’s most righteous and luminary figures. He has pressed the first few chapters in his career’s studio anthology with the release of his self-titled debut (2012). His sophomore release WAITING ON YOU (2015) features an impressive list of Nashville notables all placing their stamp on this enduring expression of un-compromised songwriting.

Billboard announced the highly anticipated third studio release third studio release LOVERSITY (2018) and landed Lewis a spot on Rolling Stone’s “10 New Artists to Watch” list, with writer Marissa Moss describing the album as, “… seventies psychedelic soul, with a storyteller’s eye, a swampy Southern groove and an emotional, political punch.” SOLO (released 2020) is a solo-acoustic album recorded at Southern Ground Studios in Nashville in front of a live audience that captures Lewis in his element. HARLEY KIMBRO LEWIS (2022) is a trans-Atlantic collaboration with England’s own Martin Harley and East Tennessee all-star Daniel Kimbro that features a collection of all original material recorded in Nashville. The long-awaited new studio album SUPERPOSITION (2024) irresistibly fuses Americana undertones to hazy dream-like melodies with psychedelic instrumental flourishes. Comprising eight atmospherically captivating originals alongside a compellingly unique take on Dire Straits’ ‘Walk of Life’ This impressive body of work has received critical acclaim and each session has grown with the legendary family for which he has adopted to curate and share his musical inner-vision with his listeners. While each album has a distinct sound, they all circle back to one universal theme and certainly something you will hear Lewis preach to his audience, “we are all trying to get somewhere — all running from something or toward something; we’re all in it together, though.” Website   Video   Music

Raised on country radio in her hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, Claire Conway was drawn to storytelling from an early age. She wrote her first song at ten years old, and soon became eager to grow as an artist in any way she could: painting, writing poems, playing guitar. She would go on to study in an intensive creative writing program at a local high school for the arts, simultaneously crafting her first EP, "Ocean’s Edge", a glimpse into her teenage years in and out of love. Lyrically, Claire Conway is wise, graceful, and honest. Her songs are dreamy, vivid portraits of her life backed by simple riffs, soft harmonies and moody slide guitar. Claire’s evolution as a songwriter was evident in her 2019 EP, "Missing," a cathartic reflection on the birth and death of a relationship and a first taste of life away from home. Claire's latest EP, "Be Good", is both a product of the pandemic and a deeply personal project years in the making. Recorded in a Los Angeles apartment while quarantined, it echoes all-too-familiar themes of isolation and self-discovery, divulging the details with unmatched intimacy. "Amsterdam" is a nod to the narrative at the heart of her last EP, while singles "Be Good" and "I Don't Wanna Be Alone" read more like diary entries, chronicling a story of a young woman discovering herself, the way she relates to others, and her place in the middle of it all. Now living in Seattle, Claire is currently recording her first full-length album, expected in late 2025. Website Video Music

Website Video Music

The Rabbit Box presents Tony Furtado & Stephanie Schneiderman & Special Guests Hanz Araki with Sam Vogt  August 15

Doors 7pm / Music begins at 8pm

$25 adv. / $30 door: https://tickets.venuepilot.com/e/tony-furtado-stephanie-schneiderman-with-special-guest-hanz-araki-2025-08-15-the-rabbit-box-theatre-s-f421b7

Tony Furtado and Stephanie Schneiderman, both veteran musicians - each with their own solo career and over 30 albums between them, are combining forces for an exciting evening fueled by music from each of their newest releases — Stephanie’s stunning and lush Crossfire and Tony's introspective, banjo centered Decembering.

Genre-spanning multi-instrumentalist Tony Furtado combines elements of folk, blues, and bluegrass into a potent Americana musical blend that explores our shared musical frontiers and traditions with fearless creativity. David Lindley calls Tony Furtado "a musical force without a doubt, " and the two-time national banjo champion and peerless slide guitar master has recorded nearly 20 critically acclaimed albums for such labels as Rounder Records, Dualtone, and Yousay Furtado Records. https://tonyfurtado.com/

Whether pursuing her prolific work as an award winning solo artist, playing drums for all-star indie rock act Swan Sovereign (formerly Dirty Martini), producing a humanitarian concert series for refugees in Uganda (raising over $70k) or acting, Stephanie Schneiderman is hands down one of the most diverse female singer-songwriters the Pacific Northwest has to offer. On Crossfire, her latest release, Stephanie combines her past sonic explorations—folk, Americana, trip-hop, and pop—into a beautifully dark and deeply introspective recording that is as lush as it is intimate. Crossfire is a self-released labor of lovethat celebrates her maiden voyage as a self-producer and is possibly her most compelling collection of songs to date. https://stephanieschneiderman.com/

Considered one of the most talented Irish musicians in America today, flautist, whistle player, singer, and Juno Award-winner Hanz Araki has been lauded by publications and audiences alike.  Three decades of musical exploration into Irish, Scottish, Japanese, and American traditions has yielded his distinct style described by Fatea Magazine as “achingly beautiful.” As the sixth generation of his family to bear the title Araki Kodo, Hanz (short for Hanzaburo, his great-great grandfather’s name) spent his formative years mastering the Japanese end-blown bamboo flute.  Discovering and relishing the melodic and mechanical similarities between shakuhachi and Irish whistle, Hanz applied his natural capacity and boundless curiosity to his Irish heritage.  Taking advantage of the rich Irish music scene in Seattle, where he spent his youth, Hanz quickly became known for his exquisite instrumental work on both Irish whistle and flute and a haunting singing voice that was born to tell tales. https://www.hanzaraki.com/

Sam Vogt is a NW artist performing musician, “Tunes on low whistle, guitar, and more inspired by Irish and Scottish musical traditions” https://samvogt.bandcamp.com/album/whistle-tunes

Montana-born, singer-songwriter, Chloe Gendrow, has carved out a unique space where raw emotion meets unfiltered storytelling, blending indie, alt-pop, and folk influences, while tying back to her Montana roots. Time spent living in Alaska has further fueled her exploration into new sonic and thematic territories, having been influenced by the heavy bluegrass and Americana scene up north. She continues to blur the lines between genre and emotion, crafting songs like “Smoke Break” and her March 28th release “Crying in Public”, that feel both deeply personal and universally felt. With over 17 million streams across platforms, Chloe’s music, at its root, is cathartic. It’s the emotional hangover, post-four-hour breakup conversation. The late night drives headed nowhere. The exhale when you finally get to where you’re going.

Her songs have taken her from the stages of Pilgrimage Festival in Nashville, to opening for Noah Cyrus in Missoula, MT and playing a sold out show in Bozeman, MT at Live from the Divide in March 2025. Chloe can’t wait to be out on the road full time showcasing her music and meeting new fans. Spotify | Instagram | YouTube

Arthur James is a Seattle-based singer-songwriter. He's known for his evocative lyricism and the way his music paints pictures of his travels and experiences. He has been featured in Sofar Sounds Seattle and on various music platforms, with a blend of elements of folk, country, and indie rock. https://arthur-james.bandcamp.com/

Thom Jurek at All Music said it best, "Only Gram Parsons' term "Cosmic American Music" begins to touch her mercurial, changeling roots aesthetic, ... McNally is a Zen-like, post-Beat song poet”. For those who have followed McNally’s nearly twenty year career the thing that most sticks with the listener about her, is the timeless effortlessness that she brings to all she does. With a long catalog and longer list of peers with whom she has written, recorded and toured, McNally continues to turn out great music that defies blatant genre-fication.

At home across the American (Americana) music spectrum, the Grammy nominee who’s live music career began on the jam band circuit of the 1990’s with bands like Robert Randolph and Derek Trucks, writes as well as she interprets the songs of others, has a top tier musicality to her craft, a soul stirring voice that immediately grabs one by the heart strings and a troubadour’s wanderlust, not to mention as it turns out, she is also an excellent electric guitar player.

Like her anti-hero heros J.J. Cale, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan. Dr. John, and Jim Dickinson, McNally knows who she serves. She serves the song. Her quiet but steady plodding through the many layers of the business of music, hasn’t ever been rewarded with massive fame and fortune but in time that slow burn has become the treasure in and of itself.

Singer/Songwriter Max Gomez grew up in Taos, New Mexico, where he fell under the influence of country blues early on and developed a songwriting style that was uniquely his. As a budding performer, Max apprenticed in the rarefied musical micro-climate of northern New Mexico, where troubadours like Michael Martin Murphey and Ray Wylie Hubbard helped foster a Western folk sound both cosmic and country.

He received critical acclaim upon the release of his debut album Rule The World (2013, New West Records); and his subsequent EP, Me and Joe (2017, Brigadoon Records), contained a freshly minted classic, “Make It Me.”

He has shared billing on hundreds of stages with stalwarts of the genre like James McMurtry, Buddy Miller, John Hiatt, Patty Griffin, Tommy James & The Shondells, Jeff Beck, and Johnny Depp. Judging by the company he keeps, Gomez is poised to emerge as a prominent voice of Americana’s next generation.  The forthcoming album, Memory Mountain, is set to be released in August 2025.

She attacks tough themes with cutting lyricism and memorable beats, preserving complex feelings with authentic humor and poignant storytelling. Josiah Flores & Hank Lemon

Straight from San Francisco, Josiah Flores and his band are celebrating his new album release from Speakeasy Studios SF “Doin’ Fine”. From dancin’ numbers to sad bastard ballads, Flores’ show is bound to move you or make you move on the dance floor.

Part-time poet turned melodic storyteller, Chicano singer/songwriter Josiah Flores puts music to the parts of life most tend to hide from. From the foothills of south San Jose to the foggy avenues of San Francisco, he calls the Bay Area his home. Influenced by the likes of Stoney Edwards, Freddy Fender, Willie Dunn, and Waylon Jennings, if one were to sit in a dimly-lit corner of their local watering hole, hunched over a beer, they would find Josiah’s songs sitting down next to them. https://josiahflores.bandcamp.com/

Hank Lemon is the solo project of Naked Giants' bombastic drummer and co-founder, Henry LaVallee. The northwest rocker-turned-folkie has taken insights from living on the road and set them to his own style of acoustic songwriting and sensory storytelling. With inspirations ranging from Dylan to Fairport Convention, Hank Lemon's music is a familiar freshness to saturated ears. https://hanklemon.bandcamp.com/

Erika Lundahl
is a heart-forward songwriter for resilient hearts and resonant bodies. Based on Coast Salish land in Seattle, Erika’s folk medicine roots in personal and collective histories of resilience, dancing between shadow and light to seek futures of abundance, possibility and healing. Her newest album “Messy, Blessed Infinity” is an exuberant love letter to the world, wrapped in notes that bend from energized folk rock, rich finger picking, and melodic vocals reminiscent of Laura Marling, Joan Baez, and Lucinda Williams.

Originally from the Willamette Valley of Oregon on Kalapuya land, Erika began to perform in earnest in upstate New York in 2012. She returned to the tall trees and rugged wilderness of the Pacific Northwest in late 2013. She is an environmental justice organizer, who is committed to low-carbon touring in her electric vehicle. Record Crates United reviewed Erika’s 2020 album "Daughter, You're a Storyteller," saying: "..a stellar collection of deeply personal ballads and tributes to the heart. With songs that are inspired by the unlocking of the stories within our genetics, and seeking to explore our pasts to better understand our present adult minds and bodies." https://www.erikalundahl.com/

Elizabeth Margit-Anne is the frontwoman of Lili St Anne, a Santa Fe-based art-folk project that combines the excitement of psychedelic rock with the groundedness of Elizabeth’s folk songwriting. Elizabeth has performed in Paris, Budapest, throughout Virginia and all over the western United States. When performing solo, Elizabeth shares the intimacy of her songwriting with grit and grace, exploring themes of love, loss, and grief with a heart-swelling verve. The Rabbit Box presents Max Knouse with Arch Cape ( Rachel Blumberg ) & Silver Torches ( Erik Walters ) on Thursday, June 5th.

Max Knouse’s voice feels like laughter that follows a well-loved joke. Only afterward, it dawns on you that you don’t fully understand the punchline. Or for that matter the set up. In fact, you’re not even sure what language the joke was told in. Known for his sessions and live shows with artists like Califone, Jolie Holland, Adan Jodorowsky, Psychic Temple, Simon Joyner, Alex Dupree, and others, Knouse has established himself as an essential factor in the West Coast indie pop underground, brandishing guitar chops that mirror the rawness of his voice; he treats his instrument like a divining rod of spiritual tension and joyful racket, pushing and pulling on it with affection and sometimes something darker. “ https://maxknouse.bandcamp.com/

Arch Cape is the experimental percussion-based solo project of musician and artist Rachel Blumberg. Rachel first made a name for herself as the drummer in The Decemberists, and later went on to play, record, and tour with many bands such as M.Ward, Bright Eyes, Mirah, Califone, and many more. Her live performances are largely improvisational and set to her animated and collaged films. https://www.rachelblumberg.com/archcapemusic

Performing emotionally powerful pop tunes that are by turns languid and urgent, Silver Torches is an indie rock band led by vocalist and songwriter Erik Walters. A native of Seattle, Washington. https://silvertorches.bandcamp.com/

Lampland + Swirlhood + Rachel Ewen

Join Lampland at The Rabbit Box this June to celebrate their latest release, Get Serene with special guests, Swirlhood and Rachel Ewen.

21+ Doors 7pm / Show 8pm

$12 adv. / $15 door: https://tickets.venuepilot.com/e/lampland-swirlhood-rachel-ewen-2025-06-04-the-rabbit-box-theatre-seattle-e8e21a

Lampland is the band and recording project of LA/New York based musician Tommy Bazarian. The band's third album, Get Serene, was produced and recorded by Katie Von Schleicher and Nate Mendelsohn (of the band Market), known for producing standout albums by Frankie Cosmos and Dougie Poole. Shortly after New Year’s 2024, the sessions began at Brooklyn’s Figure 8 Studios, with Margaux Bouchegnies (known for her solo project, Margaux) playing bass and joining Von Schleicher on backing vocals, and Sean Mullins (Sam Evian, Wilder Maker) on drums. The group drew on their shared influences: the grooves and experimental colors of Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, the grunge-y abandon of Porches' early records, and the lofi shimmer of Chris Cohen's home recordings.

The album’s title, Get Serene, is a command to yourself - to your own mind. It’s something you might speak into the mirror during a rough night. Something that slips farther away the more you reach for it. The songs on Lampland’s third LP live in the thrill of those in-between moments: suspended between boredom and possibility. https://www.lamplandband.com/

Seattle based indie/folk duo Swirlhood is the shared universe of songwriters Bethany Gray and Madeline Privott. From the Mexican border to the remote wilderness of Alaska, these two have logged countless hours exploring strange, beautiful, boring country. Much of the music they play and sing is marked by these images. Wander into a world that sees the common as commendable. Where ripples of milky guitar and pointed melodies spill from old wounds. Through their lyrical fortitude, textured voices and playful choreography, Maddie and Bethany provide a glimpse into the unknown world of Swirlhood. https://swirlhood.bandcamp.com/

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Rachel creates music that is thoughtful and honest, with themes to mimic the natural moodiness of a Washington climate; radical hope, growth and recovery, sorrow, loneliness, and grief. Blending jazz, pop, R&B, and indie rock musings with a hint of yacht rock, Rachel’s music can change genre track to track while maintaining a smooth and groovy feel. https://rachelewenmusic.com/

Beau Wood once said, “Your Jack’s sets feel like Saturday morning cartoons—if you had a fourth beer in hand and an uncounted cigarette burning nearby.” Kelsi Schacht rolls her eyes every time she catches him fishing for her once-genuine compliment: “You’re my favorite songwriter.” His 19-year-old brother, a college shortstop, keeps it simple: “Shit’s hard, dog.”  Men have cried, and he feels warm about that. The songs stay lyrically driven—with themes of simplicity, patience, and compassion—and a fingerpicked dreadnought to keep them moving. Think Winnie the Pooh with elsewhere eyes and spiked honey.

Just Clark is a singer-songwriter reviving the roots of American-made music. Digging into a woody sound that echoes through the hollers, Clark's music embodies a timeless resonance that harks back to the cherished sounds of classic Americana folk. From poet to picker, the native Texan conjures a sound as bright as the Lonestar herself.

Marika Clymer ~ backwoods dirtbag princess on the war path from the PNW.

Claire Willow is folk cellist and song-maker based in beautiful Bellingham, WA

The Rabbit Box presents Lady Queen Paradise, Claire Tucker & Where’s Beth May 21st.

Lady Queen Paradise is a blending of sound. A fantasy: folk songs on theatrical grounds. Impassioned performance and a sky-scraping range, Lady Queen Paradise lives within winds of change. ladyqueenparadise.net

Claire Tucker is an eclectic Seattle-based singer-songwriter noted for her distinctive voice, evocative lyrics, and nuanced whammy-bar technique. She is perhaps marginally better known as the lead vocalist/guitarist/songwriter for Loose Wing. Her most recent album,  "Revelers" was released in the final weeks of 2024, too late for consideration for any best-of lists, but that's OK. She'll be accompanied by vocalist Billie Bloom (Von Wildenhaus, Stargazr), and Olie Eshleman (Corespondents, Annie Ford Band) on guitar and pedal steel. https://clairetuckersongs.com/home

Where’s Beth is a folk-pop artist who recently relocated from NYC and is endlessly fascinated with the magical and the mundane. Drawing on her work as a poet and professional ghostwriter, songwriter Sarabeth has been called “a master at storytelling” (Glasse Factory) writing songs that are “poetic and playful and grounded in experience” (Various Small Flames). Making “ethereal folk in the vein of Cassandra Jenkins and Julia Jacklin” (We All Want Someone To Shout For), Sarabeth’s melodic and lyrical tendencies recall her longtime influences Sufjan Stevens and Joni Mitchell. Where’s Beth has released two albums and now records from home in Seattle. https://www.wheresbethmusic.com/

$15 adv. / $18 door : https://tickets.venuepilot.com/e/andrew-friedrich-split-second-2025-05-14-the-rabbit-box-theatre-seattle-6ddf8c

”when I began playing the guitar, I was drawn to great rock and blues improvisers like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. My enthusiasm prompted a couple of my teachers to suggest I check out Wes Montgomery and Pat Metheny. When I started listening to those guys, I made it my mission to play like them. I really wasn’t sure how to start, so I began just learning some of their solos. I remember playing along with Pat’s solo on “Minuano (Six-Eight)” over and over again without having much of a clue what was going on theoretically. I just wanted to feel what it was like to execute something like that on the guitar.

All of this is to say that I’ve always been drawn to the act of musical improvisation. I still think it is one of the most mysterious and wonderful things that human beings do.  “ - Andrew Friedrich interview with Jazz Guitar Today

Split Second is a four-piece ensemble featuring the compositions of Christian Nicoll. Bringing intricate counter melodies but danceable grooves to Seattle. Split features the playing of Dowon Kim, Paul Eschbach, and Eric Tran.
